Our group is awarded a grant from the U.S. Army Research Office!
Our project entitled “Extreme Dissipation Behavior of Main-Chain Liquid-Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) and Structures” will investigate a fundamental understanding of the relaxation mechanisms of main-chain LCEs to enable the design of extraordinary dissipation behaviors in materials and structures over multiple length scales
It is envisioned that our proposed work will uncover new dissipation behaviors of LCEs and their underlying mechanisms. It will demonstrate how the structure of LCEs can be tailored at multiple length scales to control dissipation behaviors.
It is joint efforts by Prof. Vicky Nguyen (PI), Prof. Christopher Yakacki (co-PI, University of Colorado, Denver), and our group.
